Diversity
In the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), we have always had diversity, not division, built into the fabric of our life together. We profoundly believe that every person has the God-given right to pick up the Bible and interpret it for him or herself. This openness leads to a variety of opinions that we welcome. The only thing we require of others and ourselves is a personal affirmation and confession that Jesus Christ is the son of the living God and that we accept him as our personal Lord and Savior. Some churches check a person's faith by asking doctrinal questions. At First Christian Church of Dexter, we don't think we can judge another person's intimate and inner relationship with God and Christ.
